Evaluation

The evaluation committee’s role is to provide on the ground evaluation and oversight of the coalition’s evaluation process and its funding. This group is vital to the ongoing improvement and sustainability of the coalition.

Elements & Commitment

  • 3-5 members of the coalition
  • Interest/skills in marketing, data analysis, evaluation
  • Meets regularly (to be determined by the group)

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight to the evaluation process;
  • Assist in the design of the data collection process;
  • Assist in the implementation of the data collection process;
  • Be the voice of evaluation for the coalition;
  • Be critical of the work of the coalition and ask the “rude’ questions- Are we making a difference, why or why not, are we providing our community with its needs instead of assuming what we think their needs are? and other questions along those lines;
  • Act as lead on the development and monitoring of progress of the coalition in relation to the implementation of its logic model.

Education & Communication

  1. Teen Mental Health First Aid
  2. Share local data (YRBS/Community Survey/Stakeholder Interviews)
  3. Staying Connected With Your Teen
  4. NAMI Connect Suicide Prevention Training
  5. Workshops/trainings for parents
  6. Social media & other media placement (i.e., Talk. They Hear You)

Elements & Commitment

Meets regularly (to be determined by the group)

Responsibilities

  • Oversees planning and coordination of trainings/workshops/town halls, etc
  • Manage registrations
  • Liaise with relevant community partners on education needs
  • Promote coalition events/trainings; create flyers
  • Review, interpret, share YRBS data
  • Contribute to social media presence
  • Listen and connect with community members on what community needs are

Policy & Environment

  1. Educating school staff on alternatives for the suspension process
  2. Marijuana and vaping town ordinances
  3. Drug-free signage in the community
  4. Environmental scans for “party hotspots”
  5. Compliance Checks

Responsibilities

  • Research evidence based techniques for alternatives for the suspension process
  • Work with school district leaders, student council, school boards/committee, and city officials to review and update policies related to suspension
  • Explore potential diversion programs/referrals?
  • Work with local authorities and youth to assist and implement compliance checks
  • Compile evidence based research on the effects of marijuana and vaping and prevention programs, and share with school staff
  • Work with community partners to create signage to put throughout the town

Alternative Activities for Youth

  1. Assets/gaps assessment
  2. Activities calendar for the community
  3. Support the schools with planning alternative activities when appropriate
  4. Social media around community events

Responsibilities

  • Complete/use current data to determine assets and gaps around activities in the community
  • Determine when and what activities are needed
  • Speak with youth, school staff, parents, etc. to determine what resources/support around activities would be beneficial for the youth
  • Create a monthly activities calendar, and share widely
  • Share community events on social media
  • Better youth CAN photos
  • Build out some resource pages/sections
    • Can we put these resources onto a page?
  • Add community data
